Domaine Collotte Bourgogne Rouge 2024 — Cuvée de Noble Souche — is a blend of Pinot Noir from several old vines planted in Marsannay-la-Côte, averaging over 60 years of age on clay-limestone soils of the pebble and alluvial cone type. Fruity and spicy on the nose, even peppery, with a nice suppleness on the palate and the crispness of the fruit. Elegant in its early youth and with a potential of five years of ageing — but its simplicity, in the very best sense of the word, makes it a wine for bon-vivants: open as an apéritif with a platter of cured meats, pasta, or pizza.

Appearance

Bright ruby with the translucent, elegant hue of a well-crafted Bourgogne Rouge from old vine Pinot Noir — the clarity and finesse of Marsannay-la-Côte clay-limestone fruit in the glass.

Aroma

Fruity and spicy, even peppery — the expressive, aromatic character of old vine Pinot Noir from Marsannay-la-Côte, with the freshness and finesse that stainless steel maturation preserves in full.

Palate

A nice suppleness with the crispness of the fruit — elegant in its early youth, with the structure and balance of old vine Pinot Noir from 60-year-old vines on clay-limestone soils and a potential of five years of ageing. Drink now with pleasure, or cellar with confidence.

Pairs With

A wine for bon-vivants — open as an apéritif with a platter of cured meats, alongside pasta or pizza, or simply on its own as the fruity, spicy, elegantly simple Bourgogne Rouge it is. Its simplicity, in the very best sense of the word, is its greatest virtue.

Winemaking Notes

The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted on arrival at the vat room, then completely destemmed before vatting. The vatting time is 17 days, with five days of pre-fermentation cold maceration at 10°C. Pump-overs only during fermentation — the aim being to extract the intensity of the fruit without excessive tannin extraction. The wine is matured in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness and finesse of the aromas. 1.16 hectares of old vine Pinot Noir. Nothing more, nothing less.

Producer History

Domaine Collotte is a family domaine based in Marsannay-la-Côte, at the northern gateway to the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. The Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée de Noble Souche — “cuvee of noble stock” — is drawn from 1.16 hectares of Pinot Noir vines averaging over 60 years of age, planted on the clay-limestone soils that define the character of this northern Burgundy appellation. Hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and vinified with the precision and restraint that old vine Burgundy demands, Domaine Collotte’s Bourgogne Rouge is the expression of a place, a variety, and a philosophy — fruit intensity without excess, elegance without compromise.
