Experience the exquisite taste of De Bortoli The Estate Vineyard Gamay Noir 2021. This vintage boasts rich aromas of blue and dark fruits, complemented by hints of charcuterie, earth, and spice. Enjoy the classic, soft flavours with notes of violets for a truly satisfying experience.

"The bright vermillion hue, lifted raspberry and plum are the drawcards to this wine,” noted Purser, placing this as his top wine of the tasting. “Pure fresh fruits on the nose are spiced up with notes of fresh hops, anise and violets. Crunchy cranberry and blackcurrant come through on the palate with the fine tannins forming a salivating latticework of finesse. It is impossible not to go back for another taste.”
Young Gun of Wine, June 2024

"Medium depth red/brick with a tinge of purple in the rim; cold fireplace/charred timber/ashy aromas, the palate light-medium bodied and savoury, fruit-sweet in the centre, backed by fine and drying tannins. Plum/cherry middle-palate, soft tannins, good structure with enough backbone to handle lighter red meat dishes."

Winery & Vintage Info

The Estate Vineyard wines are elegant, handcrafted wines that reflect the unique characters of the De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate in Dixons Creek. Mature vines, minimal handling, thoughtful winemaking. Exceptional quality with a distinct sense of place. The Estate Vineyard takes the place of what was known as The Estate Grown.

2021 was a cool season with timely rainfall. Lovely ripening conditions during Autumn, near perfect for Gamay Noir.

Fruit was hand harvested and hand sorted. A combination of whole berry 70% and whole bunch 30% is tipped into open fermenters. 15-18 days of maceration and fermentation with wild yeast. Pressed, settled overnight and then filled to barrel by gravity. Allowed to mature for 6 months at 16°C in 500L French casks.

The Estate Vineyard Gamay Noir is typified by perfume, crunchiness, some whole bunch characters, textural flavours and overall drinkability.
