Winemaking Notes
The Bream Creek Chardonnay is crafted from fruit grown in the vineyard's 7.5-hectare site at Marion Bay in the south-east of Tasmania, where the Chardonnay plantings were expanded by Fred Peacock following his purchase of the vineyard in 1990. The winemaking approach focuses on capturing the aromatic intensity and balanced character that defines this cool-climate Tasmanian expression, with careful handling from vineyard to bottle ensuring the preservation of the white stone fruit, citrus, grapefruit, and floral hints that characterise the wine. The use of French oak adds subtle spice and complexity to the palate, seamlessly integrated to complement rather than overwhelm the pure fruit character, whilst the fine acidity that supports the expansive finish is a natural result of the cool-climate growing conditions. The wine displays an intense and balanced palate with stone fruit, citrus, and grapefruit flavours as well as oak spice, creating exceptional harmony between fruit intensity and structural complexity. This careful approach to winemaking, combined with the quality of the Tasmanian fruit, results in a wine that shows the concentration of the vintage and can be enjoyed now, whilst also possessing the structure to gain richness with careful cellaring until 2035.

Vintage Conditions
Bream Creek Vineyard produces premium wines from Tasmania's pristine cool climate and has been rewarded with over 20 trophies and more than 470 show medals since 1990, testament to the exceptional quality of the fruit grown at Marion Bay. The 7.5-hectare vineyard at Marion Bay in the south-east of Tasmania was originally planted in 1974, making it one of the oldest commercial vineyards on the island, with this long history providing deep understanding of the site's unique terroir and optimal viticultural practices. Fred Peacock purchased the vineyard in 1990 and expanded the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay plantings, as well as introducing Sauvignon Blanc, whilst also planting what was arguably the first commercial planting of the rare German grape Schönburger in the southern hemisphere. The 2024 vintage benefited from Tasmania's cool-climate conditions, which allowed the Chardonnay grapes to develop the aromatic intensity and fine acidity that define this wine, with the extended ripening period ensuring optimal flavour development whilst retaining the natural freshness and vibrancy that make this such an exceptional expression. The concentration resulting from this vintage is evident in the wine's intense and balanced palate, supported by fine acidity and an expansive finish that showcases Marion Bay's position as one of Tasmania's premier cool-climate vineyard sites.
