Winery & Vintage Info

Bouchard Aîné & Fils house is perpetuating the tradition of quality, elegance and prestige in selecting and making fine wines which marvellously express all the richness of the French terroirs.

We have selected the best « terroirs » to create this wine, sourcing Chardonnay grapes from the south and west of France and adding extra value using grapes from the Chardonnay native soil.

In the South, the Chardonnay finds an ideal mediterranean climate and well-drained soils that make its fruity character outstand. From its native region, the grape features a great freshness and a complex range of expressions coming from the terroir variations.

This wine is a perfect reflection of our commitment to enhancing varietals, offering complexity through its finesse but remaining accessible to all.

The grapes were harvested during the cool hours of the night to keep the typical freshness of Chardonnay. Each plot was vinified seperately so that we respect their true nature, and get a finer and purer wine. After the fermentaiton process, the wine is aged for 4 months on fine lees, under wood for a quarter to bring a subtle structure and for the 3 others in stainless steel tanks to keep the fruit and freshness of the grape.

Full of history and with fine flavour our Héritage du Conseiller pay tribute to the numerous commitments of Paul Bouchard (1814-1898). He represents the 5th. generation of the family and offered an international destiny to the House, but also to the entire region and its wines. Known as the Grand Conseiller, Paul was both a politician and a visionary. Mayor, Sub-prefect, Departmental Counsellor of Côte d’Or, he was not only involved in his city and the vines, but played also a major role in the technical and commercial development of Bouchard Ainé & Fils. He founded the Viticultural School of Beaune, whose teaching helped to understand the various diseases of the vine, including Phylloxera. This technical development is also marked by a qualitative approach based on the art of blending, this Paul’s conception of quality has remained in the fundamentals of the House.

In 2024, the south of France experienced contrasting climatic conditions: a mild winter followed by spring frosts, and then significant rainfall until the beginning of summer. These cumulative hazards favoured the development of diseases, particularly mildew, with an impact on the health of the vines. Yields were lower than expected and down compared to the previous year, because of these diseases but also the persistent drought for several years which weakened the vines. The harvest began at the end of August and extended until September, with heterogeneous harvests depending on the sector, due to climatic and health disparities.
