In the early 1940’s, renowned bartender, Giuseppe Cipriani from Harry’s Bar in Venice, mixed peach nectar with prosecco making the world’s first Bellini.Thespians like Ernest Hemmingway and Charlie Chaplain were avid drinkers of the Bellini and thus started its genesis. Cipriani paid homage to the 15th Century artist -Giovanni Bellini with the unique pink colour often used in its paintings being the inspiration behind the name.
