Banks Road Yarram Creek Pinot Noir 2023 is a classic cool-climate expression from the Bellarine Peninsula — Bellarine-sourced fruit made at Banks Road Vineyard in Marcus Hill, a family-owned, small production winery established in 2002 by William and Avanelle Derham. Classic Pinot Noir aromas of rich cherry and berries with some maturation in French oak; great complexity on the palate with flavours of fruit and spice; and lasting soft tannins that make this an easy drinking style to enjoy over the next few years. A direct expression of the Bellarine Peninsula’s cool climate, maritime influence, and the low-yielding, minimal-intervention philosophy that defines Banks Road.

Winemaking Notes

Produced from Bellarine-sourced fruit and made at Banks Road Vineyard in Marcus Hill, using a measured, minimal-intervention approach that respects the integrity of the fruit. The vineyard is intentionally low-yielding — fewer bunches per vine allow the fruit to ripen slowly, retaining natural acidity and developing balance and structure. Matured in French oak to add complexity and depth while preserving the cool-climate fruit character that defines Banks Road Pinot Noir. Estate grown, made, and bottled on site.

Vintage Conditions

The 2023 vintage on the Bellarine Peninsula benefited from the region’s cool climate conditions and maritime influence from Port Phillip Bay — moderate temperatures and a long, steady ripening season that allowed the Pinot Noir fruit to develop slowly, retaining natural acidity and the balance and structure that define Banks Road’s estate-grown wines. The minimal-intervention approach in the winery ensured the integrity and cool-climate character of the fruit was preserved through to bottle.
