Balgownie Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is one of the original wines of Balgownie Estate, produced from vineyards planted almost 50 years ago at Maiden Gully outside Bendigo. Winemaker Stuart Anderson established Balgownie Estate's Bendigo vineyards in 1969 with initial plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, with Balgownie becoming an influential red wine producer in regional Victoria. The winemaking approach produces rich savoury flavours with moderate alcohol and intelligent use of oak, creating classic and refined taste with rich aromas of dark chocolate, snickers and dark berries with touch of refreshing mint. Winemaker Tony Winspear developed the first Balgownie Yarra Valley vintages and looks after the legendary winery and vineyards to this day. The wine showcases compact tannins and natural ripeness with perfect balance of flavours. Balgownie was named after the shire of Balgownie in Aberdeen, Scotland where founder Stuart Anderson's descendants originated. The vineyard has provided excellent conditions throughout its long history, producing sensational Cabernet since the first release in 1972, making it a must-try for wine connoisseurs.
