"I’ve probably said it before, and anyone who knows me knows I’m prone to repeating myself, but what a lovely evocative name it is for a vineyard.
It doesn’t need any styling products; there’s not a hair out of place here. White peach and lime, green melon, almond nougat, a whisper of struck match and spice. Smooth and flavoursome, a subtle viscosity interlaid with chalk and flint, some floral mouth-perfume, slight tweak to the finish with citrus rind and grapefruit tang. Right proper Chardonnay here."

"From one of the oldest Upper Yarra Valley vineyards, barrel-fermented using normal Oakridge protocols, and there is a trace of reduction/funk that David Bicknell doesn't shy away from. That the judges at the Yarra Valley Wine Show '18 did so emphatically is their opinion, but I enjoy the grapefruit-accented flavours and the length of the palate."

Winery & Vintage Info

Known previously as Local Vineyard Series or LVS for short, as of 2017 it is now referred to as Oakridge Willowlake Vineyard Series Chardonnay.

The Yarra Valley has three distinct geographic zones or sub-regions - lower warmer, middle cool and higher cooler sub-regions. We have matched particular varieties with the specific sites to give you outstanding examples of single vineyard wines.

This wine was sourced from the north facing Willowlake Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation followed by 10 month maturation on lees. Winery Notes
