"I found a few bottles of 2004 Mamre Brook Cabernet under the house on the weekend, forgot I bought them. As a cellaring style “safe as houses” seems an appropriately applicable phrase. There’s a slap of nutty Play-doh and vanilla oak over chocolaty black fruit and an abundance of power and impact. A real man’s wine this one, so much so that I snuck a look down my shirt to see if I’d sprouted any hairs or (additional) Solo-Man manliness as an unexpected side-effect. Full throttle black fruit, mocha and strong tannins with a good long finish round off this robust barrel-chested wine.
