The sophisticated and elegant Tim Adams Shiraz has a vibrant crimson colour with aromas and flavours of blackberry, mulberry and fresh cherries. Further complexity is built through 24 months of American oak maturation. The front and midpalate is full and soft, with flavours of small berry fruits and spice enhanced by gently-toasted oak.

The wine has great length, finishing with balanced oak and silky, structural tannin. This graceful Clare Shiraz has power and finesse which makes it both approachable now and worthy of cellaring for up to 10 years.

Winery & Vintage Info

All elements of the Tim Adams Shiraz 2019 were separately fermented on skins to dryness before pressing, with only selected softer pressings returned to the wine. The wine spent 24 months in a combination of two and three year old American oak barrels selected by the winemaking team from a range of coopers. A further 9 months in stainless tanks allowed for softening of oak tannin before blending, fining, filtering and bottling.

2019 will go down in the record books as one of the most challenging on record for wine harvesting. The skill of the viticulture and winemaking teams was really put to the test and thankfully led to another excellent quality vintage.

Extremely low rainfall throughout winter and spring led to minimal subsoil moisture and virtually no run-off in dams for the beginning of the growing season. Following an already dry 2018 vintage period, underground water resources also didnโ€™t have the ability to โ€˜re-chargeโ€™, meaning all three of the water resources were stretched to the limit. Canopies however remained healthy and strong, assisted with irrigation where possible heading into the warm summer months.

Due to the dry season, the reds have a great depth of colour, firm tannins, forward fruit flavour and excellent cellaring potential, seen beautifully in the Tim Adams Shiraz.
