Winery & Vintage Info

The fruit for Temple Bruer's 2022 Shiraz vintage is preservative free & organic, was sourced from vineyards in the Riverland, Currency Creek, and Langhorne Creek. The wineries vineyards in the Riverland are predominantly grown in red sandy loam soils. Langhorne Creek Shiraz vines are grown in light sandy loam, with some granite over clay. The Currency creek vineyard is elevated and sits above the Finniss River facing north towards Mount Observation.

Harvesting of Shiraz began at the warmer sites in the Riverland in mid-February and concluded in the cooler sites of Currency Creek and Langhorne creek in March and April at 13.5 baume on average, with some lively acid due to the cooler season. The grapes were harvested and cooled on arrival at the winery, and fermentation commenced. As fermentation finished the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and had 90% French oak and 10% American oak. The wine was then blended and bottled 12 months later. No S02 was used in the production of this wine.

A strong 2022 vintage was characterised by high-quality fruit and low to moderate yields with excellent natural acidity from an overall cool vintage with extended ripening periods for most varieties. Perhaps one of the longest vintages we have experienced, harvest continued for 11 weeks. We commenced picking chardonnay on February 3rd in the Riverland, and concluded on April 25th at Langhorne Creek with shiraz.
