The Sutton Grange Estate Syrah is the purest expression of the property. The 2018 vintage has fragrant aromas of blue fruits, black currants and lifted violet florals, with complex hints of dark chocolate and fresh turned earth. Palate has flavours of fresh blue fruits with spiced notes of sweet cinnamon and cardamom. The palate is medium-full bodied, with grainy tannins and a core of gravel driving the mid-palate. The wine has both elegance and strength driven by the fruit definition and granitic tannins.

Sutton Grange is located on the southern edge of the Bendigo region, and for many years was known for its thoroughbred racing facility. Since planting of the vineyards in 1998 it is now recognised for the wines it produces. The Sutton Grange vineyard is cultivated using organic methods, and the wines are traditionally handcrafted by winemaker Melanie Chester.

2018 was one of the great seasons we have experienced. We had a series of favourable events that year – rainfall at the right times, great flowering and ripening conditions. Coinciding with the 20th year of vines in the ground, 2018 was a lovely chance for us to enjoy the spoils of an established vineyard. The 2018 Estate wines celebrate a benchmark year.
