Stomping Ground Czech Dark Lager is dark, toasty, and dangerously easy drinking — truly the best of both worlds, where rich chocolate and herbal hops meet a crisp, clean finish. Smooth, sessionable, and perfectly balanced, this is a dark lager that delivers malty depth and refreshing drinkability in equal measure. Perfect for those who appreciate complexity without the heaviness.

Appearance

Deep, clear mahogany-brown with a creamy off-white head — the inviting, rich colour of a well-crafted Czech dark lager with the clarity and crispness that lager conditioning delivers.

Aroma

Rich chocolate and herbal hops lead a warming and expressive bouquet — the classic Czech dark lager aromatic profile, with malty depth and hop character in genuine, satisfying balance.

Palate

Smooth and sessionable — rich chocolate and herbal hop character balanced by a crisp, clean finish that makes this dark lager dangerously easy drinking. Malty depth without heaviness, complexity without effort. The best of both worlds.

Serving Suggestions

Well chilled alongside roasted meats, bratwurst, mushroom dishes, or dark rye bread and cheese — or simply on its own as the smooth, sessionable dark lager it is. Czech tradition, Collingwood made.

Producer History

Stomping Ground was founded in 2016 by Steve Jeffares, Guy Greenstone, and Justin Joiner — the team behind craft beer institutions The Local Taphouse in St Kilda and Darlinghurst, the iconic GABS Festival, and the GABS Hottest 100. A century ago, Collingwood was the epicentre of Australian brewing, and in 2016 Stomping Ground set out to bring independent brewing back to its original stomping ground. Today, Australia’s Champion Large Independent Brewery operates three Beer Halls — Collingwood, Moorabbin, and Melbourne Airport — with a crew of 100+ and a brew team headed up by Ashur Hall, bubbling up hundreds of beers a year from well-loved year-round favourites to traditional and left-field styles. They believe beer should be for all walks of life, and brew an award-winning range to suit all tastes — from laid-back drinkers to the adventurous.
