St Hallett Gamekeeper’s range acknowledges the role of the Gamekeeper in maintaining a healthy balance to a property’s wildlife. Barossa and great Shiraz have become synonymous around the world and St Hallett is committed to both. We produce over one hundred individual parcels of Barossa Shiraz each vintage and then blend to craft individual expressions of this iconic regional variety.

The St Hallett Gamekeeper's Shiraz 2017 is lifted and pretty with lively raspberry and plum fruit characters with a hint of violets. There’s a deeper savoury layer that adds notes of spicy complexity.

Vibrant purple fruits and lifted spices of cinnamon and nutmeg are encased in soft coating tannins on an elegant palate with a long, succulent finish.

Winery & Vintage Info

The 2017 vintage commenced about four weeks later than the previous five, and was coined by many as the ‘old normal’, with the first Shiraz was ready on 4th March. Mild temperatures through February provided a steady ramp-up in crushing.

Shiraz has delivered an exciting array of styles from vibrant flavoursome wines through to rich and complex styles with great texture and cellaring potential. The 2017 vintage was preceded by a favourable season in the Barossa that allowed all vineyards to produce both strong yields and high quality, and has delivered some absolute standout wines from pedigree vineyards.

The fruit for the Gamekeeper’s Shiraz is sourced from several Shiraz vineyards throughout the Barossa Valley region.

The winemaking philosophy at St Hallett is relatively simple - minimum intervention and maximum attention.

All Shiraz vineyards are crushed and fermented separately. The Shiraz vineyards destined for this wine were fermented between 6 and 8 days at 22 to 24 degrees. Post fermentation the wine was matured in American and French Oak for 6-8 months before being blended and bottled. Winery Notes

This wine is also vegan friendly.
