Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay 2022 has aromas of lemon curd, white peach, grapefruit, flint and slate. White florals, oatmeal with a curious touch of Life Saver’s fruit tingles. There is gentle oak notes of briocherounding out the wine. The palate is juicy, almost quenching. Lots of white peach and a collage of citrus, moreish acidity, together with a mineral lick and a savouriness reminiscent of miso. The mid-palate is weighted, with a structural presence and textural framework.

This is a delicious Chardonnay with hallmark Pennon Hill qualities exhibiting great varietal definition and regional expression.

Winery & Vintage Info

The fruit for the 2022 Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay was hand harvested. Whole bunch pressed directly to French oak barriques and puncheons (23% new). A considered amount of solids is maintained in the ferment. Following wild fermentation, natural malolactic fermentation brings the natural acidity back into check and the wine is then left to mature on lees; stirred when appropriate following appraisal to enhance flavour and texture. The wine is aged for 9 months in oak prior to blending and bottling.
