Tasting Notes

Appearance

Vivid crimson colour, displaying the cool-climate terroir character of this exceptional 2024 French Pinot Noir from Bouchard Ainé & Fils, grown in specific vineyards on clay-limestone soils.

Aroma

Refined bouquet of cherry and coffee, with subtle hints of toast. The aromatic profile reflects the cold maceration (4 days) and oak-ageing, with a quarter of the cuvée oak-aged whilst the rest is matured in stainless steel vats to preserve freshness and fruitiness.

Palate

The taste is both rich and fruity, highlighting a satisfying robustness. These flavours are heightened by a touch of menthol and balanced by velvety tannins. The finish is prolonged, showcasing a variety of fruit tones and a delicate oak undertone. Each parcel is vinified separately with a long fermentation (minimum 3 weeks), followed by post-fermentation hot maceration lasting 7 days, after which the wines were matured for 4 months on fine lees.

Pairs With

This exceptional French Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, coq au vin, beef bourguignon, aged Brie or Camembert, or charcuterie boards, with the wine's velvety tannins and satisfying robustness making it perfect for French cuisine, game birds and earthy dishes.

Full of history and fine flavour, Héritage du Conseiller pays tribute to Paul Bouchard (1814-1898), the Grand Conseiller.

Winemaking Notes

Bouchard Ainé & Fils house is perpetuating the tradition of quality, elegance and prestige in selecting and making fine wines which marvellously express all the richness of the French terroirs. They have selected the best cool-climate terroirs in France and enhanced this selection with grapes from their terroir of origin. The Pinot Noir grapes, grown in specific vineyards on clay-limestone soils, are subjected to a wide temperature range. As a result, they benefit from very favourable conditions for reaching full ripeness and expressing all the richness of the grape variety. This wine is a perfect reflection of their commitment to enhancing varietals, offering complexity through its finesse but remaining accessible to all. Cold maceration (4 days) to give a wine with a more intense colour. Each parcel is vinified separately with a long fermentation (minimum 3 weeks). Vatting ended with a post-fermentation hot maceration lasting 7 days, after which the wines were matured for 4 months on fine lees. A quarter of the cuvée is oak-aged, whilst the rest is matured in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness and fruitiness of the grape variety.
