History

Château Minuty's story began in 1936 when Gabriel Farnet acquired the historic estate on the Saint-Tropez peninsula, recognising the exceptional potential of its unique terroir. The property's winemaking heritage, however, stretches back much further, with the estate's name derived from the Roman "Minutus," reflecting its ancient viticultural roots. Gabriel's vision and dedication laid the foundation for what would become one of Provence's most celebrated wineries. In the 1950s, his daughter Monique Farnet married Étienne Matton, and together they transformed the estate, pioneering quality rosé production when the category was still in its infancy. Monique's creative vision led to the design of Minuty's revolutionary bottle shape in the 1960s—an elegant, curvaceous silhouette that became so iconic that winemakers throughout Provence adopted it, cementing the Matton-Farnet family's role as true innovators. Today, the estate is led by Jean-Étienne and François Matton, the third generation, who continue to honour their family's legacy whilst embracing modern techniques and sustainable practices. Their dedication has elevated Château Minuty to international acclaim, making it one of the most recognisable and respected names in Provence rosé, synonymous with the art de vivre of the Mediterranean.
