History
1838 — Johann Georg Kalleske and his wife Johanne Dorothea migrate from Prussia to South Australia, arriving on the Prince George after fleeing religious persecution.
1853 — The Kalleske farm is established at Greenock in the North-Western Barossa Valley, operating as a diverse farming enterprise including vineyard, orchard, sheep, dairy, cropping, milling and merchanting.
1875 — The oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard block is planted on the Kalleske estate — the source of the Johann Georg Shiraz.
1998 — Kalleske becomes certified organic and biodynamic by Southern Cross Certified, the oldest certified organic and biodynamic vineyard and winery in the Barossa.
2002 — Troy and Tony Kalleske establish Kalleske Wines as an independent estate winery, making the first Kalleske wine after 149 years of family grape growing.
2004 — First Kalleske wines released commercially, including the inaugural Johann Georg Shiraz.
2008 — Troy Kalleske awarded Barossa Winemaker of the Year by the Barons of Barossa.
2015 — John Kalleske awarded Barossa Vigneron of the Year by the Barons of Barossa.
Today — Kalleske remains family-owned and estate-grown, producing certified organic and biodynamic wines from the 120-acre Greenock estate with vines averaging 50 years of age.

Philosophy
Kalleske is built on the belief that the finest wines come from healthy soil, healthy vines and minimal intervention in the winery. Certified organic and biodynamic since 1998 — the oldest certified organic and biodynamic vineyard and winery in the Barossa — the estate relies on natural yeasts, natural malolactic fermentation and gravity clarification rather than synthetic inputs or fining agents. Every wine is estate grown, hand crafted and an authentic expression of the Kalleske vineyard at Greenock in the North-Western Barossa Valley.
