Torbreck's The Steading GSM 2018 vintage has a fragrancy, purity of fruit, mid-palate concentration and savoury tannin profile that makes it an exemplary wine. Vibrant aromas of violet, star anise and spice all unfold to reveal an impressive array of underlying fruit flavours. Silky, succulent dark fruits, black olive, savoury earth, liquorice and Asian spice. These complex yet elegant flavours are all neatly interwoven with a perfect balance of acidity and supple, silky tannins. The Steading will continue to develop with time in the cellar, and provide those with patience great enjoyment well into the next decade.

Winery & Vintage Info

Since 1994 Torbreck has been committed to creating exceptional Rhone style red and white wines reflecting the very best vineyards in Australia’s famous Barossa.

Provenance is everything to Torbreck as they believe the Barossa Valley is the most exciting place to make wine in the world, with its gentle Mediterranean climate and 175 years of Silesian and English commitment to winemaking and grape-growing.

The Torbreck The Steading GSM 2018 is very much the heart and soul of Torbreck, the wine that exemplifies their philosophy and beliefs - protecting and nurturing the old vine resources of the Barossa Valley is paramount to Torbreck and this wine.

It is sourced from Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz vines that survived the worldwide phylloxera outbreak of the 1880s, and a century later, the vine-pull scheme in the Barossa in the 1980s.

The Steading is a collection of 45 different sources of fruit, some from the Torbreck vineyard estates as well as from growers on a share-farming basis. These precious grapes are vinified separately and blended once their individual virtues have been assessed.

The Steading’s generous and supple flavours combine with its silken texture in a wine that defines what can only be described as classic Barossa. Winery Notes
