Sevenhill Inigo Grenache 2021 (Clare Valley)

A true reflection of provenance, this Grenache is named in honour of Inigo of Loyola who was co-founder of the Jesuit Order whose members built Sevenhill.

Very old Grenache vines – estimated planting 1920 – that yield a modest crop produce the fruit for our Inigo Grenache. Nestled in a small valley in the Sevenhill vineyards to the west of the winery, these old warriors are renowned for producing full-flavoured fruit.

Reasonable winter rainfalls and a mild spring set the vines up for the summer ripening period. The summer months were very dry. The mild conditions, allowed for steady, even ripening. We were able to pick the fruit at optimal ripeness.

The 2021 Inigo Grenache was handled gently in the winery with a minimal working of the fermentation cap and a relatively cool fermentation. The wine received a very short maturation time in Stainless Steel tanks, prior to bottling in October 2021 .
