This Gapsted High Country Tempranillo 2021 vintage displays a vibrant cherry red colour. Aromas of blueberry and black cherry with hints of ground coriander and chocolate. These aromas lead to a juicy and plush palate of dark berries, chocolate tannins and a rich, textured finish.

"Meets the price-point with some impressive juicy, cherry fruit that fills the mouth and hits the mark flavour-wise. Immediate drinking pleasure in dark cherry, plum and spice with a hint of peppery savouriness, too. Presents a solid case for more Australian early drinking, joven-style tempranillo: all fresh fruit, medium bodied and utterly slurp-able."

Winery & Vintage Info

Gapsted Wines, located near Myrtleford in Victoria's High Country, is an award-winning winery producing premium cool climate wines from the King and Alpine Valleys. They produce innovative wine varieties including Fiano and Saperavi, as well as classic styles such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay.

Over a planned weekend away in 1996 the founding partners - Shayne Cunningham, John Cavedon, Pat and Kevin Murtagh, the Bailey family, Jim Moularadellis, Bill Moularadellis and Richard Carson - got together to discuss the winery partnership. Their decision to embark on this business venture saw the birth of Gapsted Wines on that same weekend.

They are seven wine industry families who came together and invested themselves in the region that they love. Although their skills, talents, and personalities are varied, they made the decision to build Gapsted winery based on the single idea of 'excellence'.
