The 2022 DML Yarra Valley Pinot Noir nose displays sweeter red fruits, namely stewed strawberries, cranberries, cinnamon spice and a hint of creamy French oak. The palate is crunchy, red fruited with a silky fresh finish of impressive length. The extremely fine bead of tannin that runs through this wine offers length and drive to the finish.

"In these days of escalating prices, it’s very good to see these wines have shed $20 a bottle since the last vintage. The press release offers tasting notes on the wines by Sam Middleton, and he’s done a pretty good job of it. Maybe we should offer him a job? It’d give him a bit of work, although it may well be too much for him, you know, working. Only joking Sammy, we know you do the waxing of these D.M.L wines.
Red fruits, cinnamon, almond, some spice, mint and tobacco. Medium-bodied, sappy and savoury, peach and strawberry, a certain juiciness to it, fine grained tannin with some orange peel on a finish of good length. It’s maybe a bit squishy, but has no shortage of charm. Good wine all up."

Winery & Vintage Info

In 2018, a long term grower in who Franco and Sam had known for many years with well-established and highly sought after vineyard in the Upper Yarra Valley that was planted in 1999 allowed us to buy a small parcel of grapes planted solely to MV6. With that, the decision to make a DML Upper Yarra Valley Pinot Noir was made.

The fruit for our Yarra Valley iteration continues to be sourced from a very well renowned upper Yarra Valley vineyard that we are proud to have many years of experience working with. This wine when compared with its Mornington counterpart, could be considered the slightly more shy, more edgy wine of the two. It requires time in the glass to unfurl, but when given the chance the 2022 displays all the hallmarks of this outstanding vineyard from an exceptional vintage.
