About

Tenuta Ulisse represents the new face of Abruzzo wine, a dynamic family winery that has been at the heart of the region's oenological renaissance since 2006. Located in the stunning Chieti area surrounding Crecchio, the estate's vineyards nestle in a unique embrace between the Adriatic Sea and the imposing peaks of Majella and Gran Sasso, where mountain breezes infuse the vines with extraordinary character. The Ulisse family carries forward a tenacious spirit of innovation whilst honouring Abruzzo's noble native varieties—Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Pecorino, Passerina, and Cococciola. Their mission, established in 1982, remains unchanged: to transfer all the organoleptic sensations of the grape bunch directly into the consumer's glass. With a contemporary approach that questions every aspect of production and storage, Tenuta Ulisse has grown from 36,000 bottles in 2007 to 15 million today, proving that passion, research, and respect for terroir create wines of authentic, surprisingly intense flavour.

History

The Tenuta Ulisse story begins in 1920 with Grandfather Antonio, who started vinification with a vision that would shape generations to come. His intuition laid the foundation for what would become a pioneering force in Abruzzo winemaking. In 1982, the family crystallised their mission—a commitment to capturing the pure essence of the grape—and by 2003, inspired by ice wine techniques, they began groundbreaking experimentation with cold technology on grapes. The construction of their modern cellar commenced in 2006, marking the beginning of a new era, with the first vintage achieving remarkable success. Today, the Ulisse family continues this legacy with unwavering dedication, working as a true team united by shared values and collaborative spirit. They are not afraid to venture into unexplored territories, viewing research as a constant opportunity for improvement. With the past in their hearts and their gaze firmly fixed on the future, Tenuta Ulisse remains an active player in Abruzzo's wine renaissance, crafting contemporary wines that honour tradition whilst embracing innovation.
