30 botanicals including rhubarb roots and juniper berries give Select Pilla Aperitif 1920 its rich and complex taste. Intense and brilliant ruby red colour with orange highlights, it has strong and tonic primary notes, with citrus fruit and essential oils, combined with fresh, balsamic, resinous eucalyptus and menthol notes. Secondary notes are complex and herbaceous.

At first taste, Select Aperitivo is complex and intense with bitter notes from roots and barks. Spicy and tropical notes come through at mid-palate, which complement the citrus notes. The finish is pleasant and persistent with fresh and rich notes coming from the citrus fruits and essential oils.

The story of Select Aperitivo began in Venice Italy, in the district of Castello, the historical heart of this beautiful city.

In 1920, Venice was in deep turmoil following World War I. The young Pilla brothers, with their distillery and expertise in the art of making liquors, seized this unique opportunity and used it to their advantage.

Venice was at a turning point: people were just beginning to venture out again and rediscover life’s pleasures. The act of enjoying an aperitif with friends spread throughout the city and Select Pilla Aperitivo 1920 assumed the starring role in this new cocktail scene.

Almost a century has passed, but today, Select Aperitivo is still known as the true icon of the Venetian aperitif: a unique bitter that is served at the iconic bars in the Lagoon and by bartenders around the world, eager to offer something unique and special.
