"Vines planted '72, hand-picked and sorted, wild yeast-open fermented with 70% whole berry/30% whole bunch, 15 days on skins, matured in French oak (30% new) for 10 months. Very good colour; old vines are the key to the deep colour, the intense red berry and spice flavours with a foresty undertow ex the whole bunch use."

When Dr Peter McMahon planted the first vines at Seville Estate in 1972, it marked the rebirth of the Yarra Valley as a premium wine region and has been the vanguard of the modern Yarra Valley wine movement. Today the winery is managed by Dylan McMahon, who joined Seville Estate in 1998 following the passion ignited by his grandparents a generation before. While other wineries plant in established grounds, Seville Estate’s roots are set in the soil of the Upper Yarra Valley in the foothills of Mount Dandenong at an elevation of 200m. The Upper Yarra Valley’s distinctive macro climate comes to fruition in the glass, showing perfumed and delicate characters that Seville Estate wines have become known for.Seville Estate was awarded the once in a lifetime honour of ‘Winery of the Year’ at the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion Awards which celebrates the best Australian wines, winemakers and wineries.

The Reserve range is estate grown and made, expressing the very best wines from a vintage and only released in exceptional years. The reserve wines are only produced in small quantities with fruit mainly sourced from their 1972 plantings. The wines are designed to have extended cellaring potential.
