"Shiraz does well in the Yarra Valley, this from Coldstream, and I guess there will be a bit of ‘from my window’ happening in coming weeks/months. To paraphrase Redgum “God help us, it was COVID-19”. Australian’s are a plucky lot, so hopefully we’ll all pull through together.
Rich dark fruit and plum, spice, vanilla, dark chocolate. It’s medium-bodied, dense and smooth, a sweet and lush uptake of fruit laden with spice and perfume, so supple, and pulls a bit savoury on a long and deep finish. This is the best Finestra Shiraz to date, I feel."

Winery & Vintage Info

Dalla Mia Finestra meaning ‘from my window’ is the micro scale vineyard and winery of Bruce and Jo-Anne Lang and their family.

Finestra's evolution has been a natural development, which began from a long standing fascination with wine and a love of the picturesque Yarra Valley. Acquired as a green-field site in 1986 the first Finestra's vines were planted in 1989. Until 2002 all grapes were sold to larger local wineries and in 2003, once the vines were fully mature, the first wines were produced under the Finestra label.

The relationship with wine-growing in the Yarra Valley started in the early 1970's when vacation employment provided an introduction to this reemerging region and seeded a fascination with viticulture and the winemaking process. Later in the 70's a small quarter acre vineyard was planted in Seville and experience broadened in the Beechworth district when, with friends, the old Everton Hills vineyard was acquired.

Today the approach at Finestra embraces low intervention viticulture and winemaking, producing small quantities of wine with a focus on quality. Along with the marketing, all of the responsibilities at Finestra are carried out by the owners who consider it to be a creative release and labour of love.
