4.5 Stars (Equal top in flight) Winestate Magazine Mar/Apr 2021

"This is no wallflower and despite its obvious oak inputs, this is in good shape. Full of dark fruits, layers of baking spices, woodsy flavouring with licorice and juniper. It's fuller bodied, the tannins are ripe if a little gritty, yet it finishes convincingly."

Winery & Vintage Info

An Antiquarian is a collector of rare or ancient books and curios, a name befitting this rare and exclusive wine. Antiquarian wines, the pinnacle of quality, are hand crafted from only the very best parcels.

This Shiraz was closely monitored to ensure optimum harvest time. Fermented in a small open fermenter for 10 days. Cap managed twice daily to extract full flavour. A mix of French and American oak was chosen to mature this fine wine and achieve balance oak and tannin. The wine is glorious upon release and will develop even greater complexity with cellaring for up to 10 years.

Diam driven closure is selected for Antiquarian to deliver a consistent result of the highest quality.

The 2018 Barossa Vintage conditions were very favourable with timely winter rainfalls. This allowed good yields with high quality. The season ended calmly, resulting in a balanced end to harvest.
