The 2021 Josef Chromy Riesling has juicy lime and zesty lemon combined with salty mineral characters. The long, crisp citrus palate is balanced by gentle chalky texture and the natural cool climate acidity, creating a wine of length and structure. "Hand-picked estate and purchased fruit; 14 and 23yo vines; cool fermented. This is a very tightly coiled and enduring vintage for Chromy, giving birth to a steely riesling that unites tense Tasmanian acid drive with judiciously gauged phenolic bite, building a finish of considerable scaffolding. Energetic kaffir lime and wild lemon meet Granny Smith apple and an exotic side of guava and white pepper. Less than 2g/L RS is ambitious for such a rigid chassis, and it will blossom with bottle age to soften its edges."
