Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2017 (Marlborough)
Tasting Notes
Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2017 is more aromatically complex than preceding years, whilst maintaining the Catalina house style of delivering a textured and rich palate balanced with fruit precision and focus.
Aromatically, the wine displays a smoky lift complemented with attractive grapefruit and citrus, crushed herbs and tropical notes with a perfectly balanced and cleansing palate of formidable line and length.
Review
"High toned floral and citrus perfume, touches of grassiness and a puff of talc. Tart and lean, zingy and fresh, very racy, very citrusy too. Runs fast and bright in the palate, finishes with pleasing bitter-sour, almost tonic water character. Good drinking."

SOLD OUT - Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2018 vintage is now available here.
The 2016/17 growing season started well and was looking typically promising with a dry warm windy Summer and above average cropping levels. Just prior to harvest a series of irregular rain events through March and again in April necessitated early and pragmatic harvest decisions to avoid the worst of the wet and the onset of disease. Fruit that went into the Catalina Sounds Sauvignon Blanc 2017 blend was harvested over a 3 week window starting April 3rd 2017. As always with Catalina Sounds, we have allowed the fruit to tell its story and added extra layers of complexity both aromatically and texturally via oak fermentation, aging (unsulphured) on yeast lees post ferment, ‘full solids’ tank ferments and a 10T parcel fermented ‘on skins’ in the red cellar.
