Whitebox Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2012
The 2012 Whitebox Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is deep scarlet in colour. The nose shows lifted floral aromas, subtle french oak and a panoply of red fruits. The generous palate abounds with flavours of strawberry, cherry and complex forest-floor secondary characters. Velvety tannins underpin the lingering aftertaste; a seductive and sophisticated wine.
Whitebox wines are fashioned with respect to terroir and tradition. Drinking well now, this wine will continue to develop in the bottle for many years to come.

Each parcel was fermented separately in traditional open fermenters, and given daily gentle plunging to ensure soft tannin extraction with maximum fruit flavour. Following light pressing the wine went through malo-lactic fermentation and maturation in new & old french oak and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for periods varying from 6 to 18 months (dependent on wine structure), prior to assemblage of the finished wine.
The 2012 season produced wines of exceptional quality – in particular Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir. Plenty of sunshine and timely rainfall resulted in an early harvest, perfect timing to ripen a smaller than average crop to the optimum level. Winery Notes
