Torbreck Barossa Valley Woodcutter's Shiraz 2016
Full of deep, dark berry fruit, the 2016 vintage is one of the richest and most complex Woodcutter’s of recent years. Rich, opulent fruit with a wonderful freshness and balance.
An incredible deep, central core of dark fruit gives way to an intense textural mid palate full of cassis, plum, spice and dark chocolate.
Whilst offering immense pleasure in its youth the 2016 Woodcutter’s Shiraz will certainly develop into an impressive wine with 7 - 10 years in the cellar. Another fantastic introduction to the Torbreck range.
"This shows the greatness of the vintage with graphite, stone, oyster shell, blackberry, and licorice. Smoke undertone. Full body yet linear and energetic with a fabulous finish. A stunning wine. Great value for the quality. Drink now. Screw cap."

SOLD OUT - Torbreck Woodcutter's Shiraz 2017 vintage is now available here.
This wine reflects the up and coming Shiraz vineyards of the Barossa, rather than the battle hardened old vines that make up the core of our other cuvées.
Like all wines in the Torbreck stable, Woodcutter’s Shiraz receives the very best viticultural and winemaking treatment. Fruit is sourced from hand-harvested and hand-tended, low-yielding vines, then open fermented and gently basket pressed before ageing on fine lees for 12 months in large format seasoned barrels and foudres.
Although this wine is constantly praised for its succulence and richness, there is also a complexity and texture which is rarely found at this price.
Torbreck is the name of a forest near Inverness, Scotland. You’ll find more than a passing nod to the Celts in our wine naming conventions including this tribute to the foresters of this rugged high country.
Despite a dry winter, rains in January and March, 2016 freshened the older vines and provided long, slow ripening periods in between, which led to a stand-out vintage with high quality fruit.
100% Shiraz grapes from the Marananga, Greenock, Seppeltsfield, Gomersal, Moppa, Lyndoch, and Kalimna districts. Harvested in late February through early April 2016. Winery Notes
