Kreglinger Wine Estate Tasmania Vintage Brut 2015
Tasting Notes
Kreglinger Wine Estate Vintage Brut 2015 has the body colour of a fine champagne diamond, polished to sparkle and flash with lots of fire. Distinctively supported by necklaces of finely strung pearl beads, that stem from the glass. Classic Kreglinger Vintage Brut aromas, with seamless depth and elegance. All the hallmarks of fine cool maritime climate sparkling wine. The subtle hints of a French bakery, with honey, nougat, jasmine flower, some fine Smokey quartz and mineral perfume talc, all integrated and balanced by the subtle tones of marmalade, scented paraffin wax and sea side aromas.
A very captivating, long, rich and balanced palate; sophisticated and beautifully defined creamy mousse (Cordon de Mousse) providing a lively lifted texture to the crisp acid clean mouth feel. Freshly baked pastries, vanilla sorbet and wafer cone, with hints short bread teasing the palate. The addition of our liqueur de dosage at disgorgement has added further richness, depth and complexity to the already multi-layered palate. The finish is long elegant and seamless, with maritime and seaside flavours that entice your palate for more satisfaction.

Since its foundation in 1797, Kreglinger Wine Estates has been delicately crafting fine wine, spreading its vines from Antwerp to Southern Australia. While the suave and sophisticated European influences of our heritage remain, our Australian portfolio of wines proudly captures the unique qualities of the land we now call home. From our vineyards in the pristine island state of Northern Tasmania, to the isolated coastal plains of Mt Benson in South Australia, Kreglinger has dedicated itself to being at the forefront of the Australian wine industry.
The legacy of George and Christian Kreglinger began in Belgium, two brothers who dared to dream and began a family company which still holds trade registration number one in Antwerp to this day. In 1893, the family's group of companies extended to Australia, establishing Kreglinger Australia.
In 2000, Kreglinger Australia diversified into wine production with the acquisition of the majority ownership of Pipers Brook and Norfolk Rise Vineyards.
This vintage Kreglinger sparkling is sourced from a single vineyard of the same name, with high-density Pinot Noir and chardonnay of significant vine age, specifically established and managed for sparkling wine production in the Pipers Brook district. The site was chosen for our vintage sparkling program after many years of rigorous trialing and evaluation. Annual heat summation figures of 950-1050 growing degree days Celsius compare very favourably with sites in Champagne (around 1030 GDD). The Pipers Brook district is characterised by Ferrosol (volcanic) soils, also known as kraznozems. Basalt-derived, they have excellent water holding capacity, offering a steady supply of moisture and nourishment to vines that are managed without irrigation. Vertical Shoot Positioned (VSP) trellises of very high vine density are hedge-trimmed in summer to provide increased bunch exposure to the sun. Row-spacings are narrow at 1.5 metres.
Hand harvested in the cold morning hours in the Pipers Brook Vineyard. The cool fruit was very carefully whole bunch pressed extracted only the most delicate juice. Cool fermented to retain the exceptional fruit characters from the 2010 vintage, some parcels were selected for fermentation in barrel. Hand crafted this wine was blended from only the best individual parcels to and create a wine of beauty and complexity. Made in the Traditional Method this wine underwent secondary ferment in bottle and was then aged for nine years in those bottles before release. This is the epitome of deluxe Tasmanian sparkling wine. Winery Notes
