Taylors Jaraman Shiraz 2020 (Clare Valley & McLaren Vale)
Australia’s iconic wine regions provide extraordinary diversity. With the 'Jaraman' range Taylors search for parcels of extraordinary fruit to craft wines that showcase their distinctive regional characteristics and style. The 2020 Shiraz saw Clare Valley 60% & McLaren Vale 40% ratios of fruit. In the Clare Valley, the season for vintage 2020 started with challenging weather events, including spring frosts at budburst and then hot and windy conditions during flowering. The start of summer brought wild weather; from searing heat and bushfires to heavy rain and chilly, gusty winds. February and March saw weather conditions return to relatively normal, and harvest progressed smoothly and steadily. While it was a very tough year for growers, the quality of the fruit was high. In McLaren Vale, the conditions were similar with many characterising it as the ‘tale of two summers’ – the first searingly hot and the second unusually mild and much cooler than normal.
The wine was matured in a mixture of coopers’ American oak hogsheads (30% 1 year old and 70% 2-3 year old for an average of 14 months before being bottled. Winery Notes
