Sanguine Progeny Shiraz 2019 (Heathcote)
The 2019 vintage Progeny Shiraz from Sanguine has a very deep dark red hue, showing great concentration. A warm vintage shining through with an array of berries. Cherry standing proudly amongst the usual pepper and spices that the Sanguine vineyard throws up. Probably the smoothest early release Progeny to date with mouth filling richness and softening tannin with just a hint of oak in the background, as all good Progeny’s before it.
Enjoy now as Progeny is designed, but as history shows most Sanguine shiraz can go the distance.

Sanguine Estate utilise traditional winemaking practices such as small fermentation tanks, natural fermentation (i.e. no yeast additions) and gravity feeding. Whilst this can be quite labour intensive, we believe it ensures the preservation of natural fruit flavours and the Heathcote terroir character.
As with all varieties produced at Sanguine Estate, the grapes for the 2019 Progeny Shiraz were de-stemmed, lightly crushed and then naturally fermented with wild indigenous yeasts in small open fermenters. The wine is then transferred via gravity (to avoid pump shock) to predominantly French oak barriques (approximately 15% new) and left to mature for approximately 12 months.
