The 2020 vintage Scotch Fillet Graded Collection Shiraz from Pepperjack is rich and dark red in colour with a dark purple rim, the nose shows a concentrated layer of blue and black fruits, dark chocolate and hints mocha and savoury oak notes. The palate is rich and plush with an excellent structure. There are concentrated layers of blue and black berry fruits blended with balanced oak. Fine, velvety tannins give length and power, with a soft and full finish showing true McLaren Vale character. Matured in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak barrels for 12 months. It can be enjoyed now but will also improve with careful cellaring.

Winery & Vintage Info

McLaren Vale was named in 1837 by David McLaren who was appointed to survey the area. The region quickly became settled with the earliest vineyards planted in 1838. McLaren Vale's maritime climate, limited water and warm summers make the ideal climate for shiraz. The fruit is intensely flavoured and the resulting wine has a deep purple hue that can last decades in the bottle. McLaren Vale shiraz is distinguished by its ripeness, softness, structure and complexity.

Just as different steak cuts have different flavour, texture and appeal - so do different Shiraz wines. The Pepperjack Graded Collection showcases two different styles of Shiraz, created to perfectly match two favourite cuts of steak: Scotch Fillet and Porterhouse.

The Pepperjack Graded Collection McLaren Vale Shiraz 2020 vintage was hand crafted to partner with Scotch Fillet as the McLaren Vale region produces Shiraz that is highly concentrated with lots of fruit flavour, as well as a richness to balance the rich flavours of the Scotch Fillet.

The wine was fermented then aged in a mix of French & American oak. Individual parcels are then matured separately to maximise complexity. Aged for 12 months. Winery Notes
