Moppity Lock & Key Shiraz 2016 (Hilltops)
Tasting Notes
Moppity Lock & Key Hilltops Shiraz 2016 vintage has a delicious medium bodied palate with fine lacy tannin and pure dark berry fruits, with savoury undertones.
Lovely presence in the front and mid palate, powering off towards the back before seamlessly integrating onto a juicy, bright and silky finish.
A stunning example of Hilltops Shiraz, that clearly demonstrates this remarkable site’s pedigree for ultra-premium Shiraz.
Reviews
“It is a wine built around it’s texture and structure, the dark berry and earthy flavours held within mouth-watering tannins.”
95 Points - James Halliday, Wine Companion 2019

Our Moppity Vineyards Lock & Key Shiraz has built its own reputation for consistently producing high quality, cool climate Shiraz well above it’s price point.
All the fruit is sourced from our high altitude, single vineyard in Hilltops, Southern NSW. 2016 was the warmest year we had experienced in Hilltops, we were thankful for the cooler night temperatures which produced fruit with incredible colour and intensity of flavour but with good natural acidity and brightness.
Cold soaked pre-ferment, 12 day fermentation, barrel aged in a combination of older French hogsheads and stainless steel.
We believe a key element of all ‘Moppity Shiraz’ comes from the art of blending small batches of different blocks and clones to produce wines that have a kaleidoscope of flavour and textural profiles. Winery Notes
Moppity Vineyards; Winner of the Great Australian Shiraz Challenge in 2014 & 2016.

95 Points – James Halliday Wine Companion 2019
