Kay Brothers Hillside Shiraz 2014
Medium-full bodied with concentrated black berries, hints of dried herbs and underlying wood smoke.
The palate is loaded with generous fruit along with savoury and spicy aromas, balanced by fine ripe tannins on the finish.
This wine leaves no doubt of its McLaren Vale heritage and will only benefit from quality time in the cellar.

The Hillside vineyard was initially planted in 1892 and in 1992 a systematic replanting of the eastern hillside commenced, using cuttings taken from the 100- year-old Block 6 Shiraz and suitably named New Block 6. Unlike Block 6, Hillside allows Kay Brothers to pick various parcels of fruit so as to assemble the best blend possible.
Harvested on 6th and 12th of March 2014, and traditionally processed with open fermentation and basket pressing, the wine matured for 20 months in American, French and Eastern European Oak barrels prior to bottling in July 2016. Winery Notes
Reviews & Accolades
“A wine of exuberant dark fruit, toned and rippling across a muscular frame sculpted by creamy oak, American and French, impeccably wrought grape tannins and just enough acidity for zest and poise. This is the sort of generous wine that wears its heart on its sleeve, oozing a carnal ripeness seldom found elsewhere. It is all McLaren Vale! The oak, while heady, will be absorbed in time.”
