Innocent Bystander Syrah 2018 (Yarra Valley)
The 2018 vintage release of Innocent Bystander's Syrah is smooth, and a sophisticated expression of Shiraz and the cool hillsides of the Yarra Valley are perfect for making this intriguing style. Generous in fruit but restrained in oak, subtly perfumed and tantalisingly spicy it’s made to be savoured.
The 2018 vintage in the Yarra Valley saw a warm, relatively early vintage with perfect ripening conditions leading to a supple, savoury fruit-driven Syrah, with the right dose of peppery spice from Innocent Bystander.
Harvested in March 2018, 40% of the fruit was hand-picked from both upper & lower vineyards, cold soak 3 days. 30% whole bunches were used to bring the perfume of the fruit, with 9 months maturation in French oak, 10% of which was new, with natural malolactic fermentation occurring. There was no fining leading to a vegan friendly wine. Winery Notes
