The cool 2016/2017 growing season had plentiful rains throughout removing the need for irrigation. All blocks of Pinot Noir grapes from the Blue Pyrenees Estate vineyard & select Merlot & Shiraz blocks were lightly pressed soon after night harvesting to minimise colour & phenolic extraction.
The resulting pale pink juice was fermented to dryness by selected yeast strains in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The young wines then underwent malo-lactic fermentation as they were agitated on primary yeast lees for six months to impart the creamy mid palate & naturally stabilise the wine. These techniques create an ideal luncheon wine that matches many foods but should be served chilled. Winery Notes
Reviews & Accolades
"I’m almost at the point where I taste more rose than any other variety/style. Certainly during spring/summer I do. So much rose on the Australian market now. This edition from Blue Pyrenees Estate is made with pinot noir.
Pale copper-crimson colour. Bone dry it most definitely is. This rakes through the palate with spice, cranberry and strawberry-like flavour. It’s a mouthwatering, savoury style. Not a lot of flesh admittedly but it makes it work. Plenty of attitude, in a good way."
