Luccarelli Primitivo Zinfandel 2017 (Italy)
Luccarelli Primitivo Zinfandel 2017 is the ultimate food wine, and a rare variety in Australian wine stores. Get this at a ridiculous price for an imported wine, but it doesn't lack quality. Bright ruby red colour with violet reflections, an intense, fruity aromas (red fruits notes). It's a full-bodied wine, whilst soft it's got grippy tannins, and is well-balanced. Perfect with rich first courses and red meat, game and medium-seasoned cheeses.
"This can be found at under $15, which is pretty tidy buying. Delivers a good hit of Southern Italian at a very fair price. Plum, aniseed, chocolate, pine wood. Juicy and lively, all choc-dipped plum with a clip of orange peel and dried herb. Tannin is powdery, and spreads out nicely, finish more red fruits and delivers decent length. No complaints, and perhaps a little nod and smile."
