Fratelli Nistri Chianti DOCG 2017 (Italy)
90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Caniaolo.
The wine shows classic Sangiovese dominance made in a modern style – bright cherry fruits, light lifted and pure. The tannins are soft and integrated and there is fantastic Sangiovese acidity keeping the wine fresh and making it a good match with a variety of foods. Cabernet and Merlot are only just evident in a bit of fruit density in the mid palate.
The Fratelli Nistri winery where the Fratelli Nistri Chianti DOCG 2017 is made is one of the oldest in Tuscany, dating back to 1865 when Francesco Nistri set up a wine trading business in Mezzana, on the outskirts of Prato. Today Fratelli Nistri is run by fifth generation family members, Massimo and Fabrizio Nistri.
The winery’s central office is still in Prato, near the original establishment founded by Francesco Nistri, but in 2006 it moved to Greve in Chianti, in the Chianti Classico production zone. This move along with significant investment in winery and production infrastructure have lifted the quality of Fratelli Nistri significantly.
