Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache 2016
Reviews & Accolades
“The 2016 Wallace Shiraz-Grenache is the same 78/22 blend that the past two vintages have been, but it seems a touch darker and richer on the nose and palate, if perhaps a little less complex and nuanced. It’s still a solid mouthful of bold Barossa fruit, leaning toward black cherries in this vintage, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel and a long, supple finish.”

“Rich, deep colour and bouquet speaking of spicy fruit and generous but well-trimmed oak, the palate sinewy and crisp with liberal acidity and peppery spicy leanness (it must be the Grenache that’s providing the spice). It has a lot of charm and aromaticity. A stylish wine of its type.”

He makes unique, elegant wines with minimal intervention, which are regarded as classics and unmistakably Barossan.
Along with the numerous trophies and awards for his wines, Ben's winemaking honours include:
Qantas Young Winemaker of the Year Robert M. Parker Jnr Wine Personality of the Year New World Winemaker of the Year in Behind the Label (UK) "Baron of the Barossa" for his contribution to the cultural fabric of the Barossa Valley.
Glaetzer Wallace 2016 takes on the traditional Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz and Grenache in a modern way. The Shiraz brings backbone, flesh and body to the wine with the Grenache adding a soft, vibrant juiciness. Wallace is an ancestral name of Colin's wife, Judith, whose family hail from Scotland. Judith's Celtic ancestry is reflected in the three elements of the Wallace symbol - the Celtic cross, thistle and the Celtic knot pattern.
