Six Acres is a family run vineyard and winery located in Silvan in the Yarra Valley, planted in 1999 by Ralph and Lesley Zuccaro. Situated with a picturesque vantage point at the tip of the southern Yarra Valley, the north-facing Six Acres vineyard benefits from rich volcanic soil and enjoys a cool climate, 250 metres above sea level.
The Six Acres vineyard - Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot - is dry grown in deep red volcanic soil. Yields are kept low to encourage balance and concentration within the grapes. Currently biologically farmed, our goal is to move towards organic / sustainable grape-growing. Viticulturally we only use organic sprays, promote natural grasses in an uncultivated permanent sward, we are developing a composting and mulching program to maximise the health of our soils.
The small size of the property means that the whole family is involved in the winemaking process. A visit to Six Acres will almost certainly involve being greeted by a Zuccaro family member as they emerge from the rows of vines or from the barrel shed.
Our aim each year is to produce bright, textural and complex wines in a way that expresses the quality of our grapes and the terroir of our vineyard. Winery Notes
