Robert Oatley Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2018
Robert Oatley's Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2018 vintage shows lovely varietal intensity in the wild strawberry and cherry, lightly savoury spectrum. Vibrant and juicy it has a gentle French oak influence.
Robert Oatley Wines was founded as a family winery in 2006 by the late Robert (Bob) Oatley AO BEM. Today the family business is led by Bob’s eldest son Sandy Oatley who, together with his father, brother and sister, planted the first Oatley family vineyards in the late 1960’s.
The Robert Oatley Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2018 from the Signature Series draws on a remarkable portfolio of vineyards nurtured by the winemaking talent of Larry Cherubino showcasing Australia’s most successful wine styles and regions. Bob Oatley’s mantra was that all wines should be a “darned good drink”, and the high quality Signature Series delivers immediate appeal, with satisfying flavours over an elegant frame. Each wine embodies the grape varietal and region in which it was grown.
The picturesque Yarra Valley is home to a number of Australia’s most noted historic wineries which continue alongside some of the newest and most innovative. Its generally cool climate is well suited to high quality Pinot Noir. The Robert Oatley Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2018 was fermented in open fermenters, partial whole-bunch, with maceration varying between seven and twenty one days and a short maturation in French oak barrels - twenty per cent.
