Lethbridge Ménage a Noir Pinot Noir 2020 (Geelong)
Dark cherry, Satsuma plum and berry aromas with some funky, earthy spice, and forest-floor traces. Vibrant, berry flavours, crunchy tannins and elegant mouthfeel with a lingering fresh finish.
“I think if you look at a producer and look at their baby wine and it’s not interesting, then you give up on that producer then”, says Ray Nadeson laughing. Some whole bunch, some new oak, but the idea is for bright drinking (baby) red wine to emerge with structural and savoury components but also accessibility, “so it doesn’t spook the horses”, says Nadeson.
Wicked drinking. Thirst-quenching, cherry pip and crunch. Vivacious, gently sweet, some sour tang for freshness too. Does the trick of seeming kind of fancy, while also being inherently fresh and fruity. Savoury notes of brown spice, minerally things, truffle and brambles. What a great thing to savour or smash. Killer gear."
