Punt Road Gamay 2022 (Yarra Valley)

Vintage 2022 produced extremely low yields across all varieties. Whilst not ideal in terms of volume, it has produced wines of extremely high quality and great concentration, and Gamay was no exception. After a wet spring we welcomed a dry and warm January and February which allowed slow ripening, giving the vines time to develop a great tannin structure, retain natural acid and build complex flavour.

The pick was split into two components, 30% was fermented as whole bunch and 70% as whole berry, then pressed together and matured in seasoned French oak hogsheads for 9 months. Then bottled with minimal SO2 and no fining. Best to be consumed within 3-5 years.
