Amrut Peated Indian Single Malt Whisky 700ml
Amrut Peated Indian Single Malt Whisky has an unusually dry peat on the nose; not dissimilar to peat reek absorbed by an old leather armchair, a hint of citrus, too. Despite the nose, the immediate sensation is one of being caressed by molassed sugar and then a ratching up of the peat notes. As they get more forceful, so the experience becomes that little bit drier and spicier, though not without the molasses refusing to give way. You can tell the quality of the distillate and the barrels it has been matured in by the crystalline depth to the finish. Everything is clear on the palate and the butterscotch vanillas wrap the phenols for a comfortable and clean finale.
The history of Amrut Distilleries is as old as the history of independent India itself. After six decades of notable progress, just like India, Amrut Distilleries has grown both in stature and size and is now noted as a global economic leader.
In the 1980s buoyed by the will to offer Indian consumers quality products, Amrut ventured into the distillation of Malts with an aim to produce class leading whiskies.
Amrut Peated Indian Single Malt Whisky won the Liquid Gold Award, Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2010, showcasing the best of the distillery’s offerings.
