Bright grapefruit and berries on the nose, leading to a palate filled with Sloe and light hint of spice before leading to herbaceous green juniper notes. The Blackthorn Gin is delicious just neat or on ice or with a dash of tonic or soda if you prefer a G&T.
When two Australian mates, Matt and Dave, decided they wanted to throw their passion behind Gin Distillery they also opened the door to a world of creation and thinking (and distilling) outside the norm.
Big supporters of the movement to buy and support local, they garnered inspiration from the Aussie Craft beer brewers and Gin Distillers before them, setting out to live their dream. And so Patient Wolf Gin was born.
Believing in a a new wave of unrestrained craft-led influence that respects tradition yet challenges the future, they blend old and new techniques which is best typified by their handmade, 220L Müller copper still, custom built in Germany. It took a year to make and it uses a new technology, which increases copper contact with the spirit to produce a more pure, aromatic and refined distillate.
The Blackthorn Gin takes its inspiration from the early Scottish settlers who planted the Blackthorn bush, also known as Sloe, around Northern Tasmania.
