Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin 2017 700ml
The beauty of Bloody Shiraz Gin being a product of vintage which means that it will never be the same. The 2017 release has an incredibly vibrant ruby colour, which turns iridescent pink when mixed with tonic or soda.
Aromatically the gin has fresh pine needles and incredible spice, and a clear peppery, dense raspberry character.
The palate is lovely and sweet, with long juniper and spice characters to finish. This release is slightly lighter in colour than last year's, due to a cool vintage in the Yarra Valley with a moderate ripening period.

Not far from the Four Pillars distillery at Healesville are some of Yarra Valley's most auspicious vineyards. With this at their doorstep, distiller, Cameron Mackenzie took inspiration from the traditional purple-hued sloe berry Gins of the UK, by creating a uniquely Australian rendition.
'Bloody Shiraz Gin' combines some of the Yarra Valley's finest cool-climate Shiraz grapes and Four Pillars high-proof 'Rare Dry Gin' which are macerated for an eight-week period to extract maximum colour and flavour, bottled without filtration.
The end result showcases a lovely balance of the Four Pillars Gin aromatics, along with a dense raspberry sweetness, that lends itself to enjoying on its lonesome - on the rocks with a twist of citrus (orange is our pick).
Unlike Sloe Gin, the alcohol is 37.8% (rather than <30%) so it packs a punch and is ideal in a range of cocktails. The gin is unfiltered, so it will develop secondary fruit characters beyond two years and is best consumed within two years of vintage. Distillery Notes
