“It's an interesting place to visit, Forester Estate. Tucked away in the middle of a magnificent Jarrah forest in northern Margaret River, the winery buildings have a facade modelled on a French Renaissance castle. It feels a bit like being in the setting of a fairytale. Anyway, more importantly, they do make good wine there, and the Cabernet Merlot is the pick of the range for me. Labelled as Cabernet Merlot, but significantly Malbec and Petit Verdot actually comprise about 10% of the blend, and I think those varieties definitely add a degree of complexity. Typical Margaret River Cabernet on the nose, with the regional bay-leaf character coming through amongst aromas of red and blackcurrant, raspberry, mint chocolate and cedary French oak. Really nicely balanced on the palate, the flavours a mirror of the aromas, fresh and juicy, smooth and supple, the different varieties providing their own individual character. If you are looking for a reasonably priced example of high quality Margaret River Cabernet, drinking really well now, then I think this should be on your short-list. “ Steve Creber –winesellersdirect wine panel
